Hi :)

I’m a Copenhagen-based illustrator, visual artist, and graphic designer.

I hold a Master’s degree in Visual Communication from the Royal Danish Academy of Design, and I’ve been working as an independent designer and illustrator since 2018.

I’m drawn to the analogue — the sensory and expressive. I love experimenting with composition, materials, colours, and media, often working in the space between the abstract and the figurative. At the same time, I also enjoy working digitally and with precision — there’s something deeply satisfying about refining and organising elements within a clearly defined grid.

I’ve created book covers, children’s books, catalogues, magazines, publications, visual identities, branding illustrations, editorial illustration, textiles, posters, artwork, murals and more.

In general, I’m curious and always up for a challenge.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have commissions, projects, or collaborations in mind. Big or small, graphic or illustrative — I’d love to hear from you: mail@claraselinabach.com.

“There is clearly something extra in Clara Selina Bach’s illustrations. Whether she focuses on the wonders of nature, the twists and turns of the city, the quit strength of animals or the ambivalent human condition, her illustrations are full of movement. This is undoubtedly due to her instinctive style and mixed technique, which involves choosing the right tool at the right time. But above all, it is her own heart that speaks when the brush moves. The Danish artist knows how to make the world around her her own with strong and genuine empathy: Clara Selina Bach depicts every being and every element as if she were so close to it that she could smell it and feel the vibrations. The result is a reshaped vision of our present, sincere and vibrant. Life, in short.”

“Bach’s instinct to explore new visual textures and formats is reflected in her eclectic portfolio. Fluid in various media, from acrylics and watorcolor to pencils, ink and digital, she approaches her subjects with intuition and honesty. People in everyday scenarios, in both urban communities and the natural world, are rendered in a playful abstraction and sense of equlibirium.”

“We are absolutely in love with Clara’s style and have collaborated with her on several occasions. We communicate with a broad audience about health-related topics that can sometimes be complex and heavy, so having engaging visuals that support the text is incredibly important.

Clara is sharp, a pleasure to brainstorm with creatively, and knows how to balance respecting and challenging our brief. Clara excels at translating text into creative, easy-to-read illustrations. The drawings stand strong on their own, while also drawing the reader into the content. That is the power of a great illustration.

In addition to using beautiful colours, Clara’s illustrations have warmth and a twinkle in the eye without compromising the seriousness of the subject matter. This makes the message more memorable when those lovely illustrations stay with you visually. In fact, data from our most recent digital magazine shows that the article “Give Your Brain a Break and Gain More Power”, featuring Clara’s illustrations, is among the most-read—likely because the illustrations capture the reader’s attention and spark their curiosity.”
